The first German National Opera
Already in 1810 Carl Maria von Weber had stumbled upon the "ghost book" by August Apel and Friedrich August Schulze. More and more the story of "The Marksman" became a blueprint in his thoughts for an opera. Carl Graf von Brühl urged him to finish the piece for the opening of the newly built Schauspielhaus in Berlin.
On 18 June 1821 "The Marksman" was premiered at the Royal Theatre in Berlin. It was an absolute triumph!
And to this day , the success of the " first German national opera" continues. Experience this classic opera in the breathtaking atmosphere of the Semper Opera House .
